Kingslakes Holidays have something for everyone

Thanks to a huge investment programme over many years, Kingslakes Holidays now offer unrivalled quality, versatility and flexibility, so can accommodate all ages as it offers such a wide range of activities and facilities throughout its 40 acre site in picturesque Chilla, in Devon.

Located in-between the delightful villages of Hatherleigh and Holsworthy, Kingslakes is a superb central West Country location from which to explore Devon and adjacent Cornwall. Only 30 minutes drive to the beaches of Bude or the wide expanses of Widemouth Bay, Kingslakes is also surrounded by nearby olde worldy gastro pubs that are warm, welcoming, offering an excellent choice of ales, windows and high quality cuisine.

With Hatherleigh and Holsworthy 10-15 minutes drive away also offering attractive pubs, eateries, quaint shops, supermarkets and coffee shops, Kingslakes really is at the very centre of Devon, yet is still totally off the beaten track, in the middle of complete peace and quiet, only able to be accessed via a single track road with passing places.

The variety of high spec cottages and lodges offering a wide choice of self-catering accommodation, whether you are into fishing or not! If you are, there are 7 coarse fishing lakes spread throughout Kingslakes 40 acres. Traditionally Kingslakes built up a reputation amongst fisherfolk as the place to enjoy a relaxing residential fishing holiday, a reputation it has kept to this day. If fishing is not for you, then Kingslakes is ideal for children as they can feed the animals, or simply marvel at all the different species who have their permanent home at Kingslakes. In addition there is a huge grassed children’s play area with swings, climbing frame, a sand pit and its own wooden fort!

For teenagers (and those a little older) there is a games room with board games, a pool table and darts board in the Main Clubhouse. Outside the bar area is a substantial patio which has a giant outer chessboard that is perfect for all generations. As well as badminton nets, there are picnic tables scattered on the site and plenty of room to hit some golf balls if you are into that sort of thing.

The Main Clubhouse contains a bar/restaurant and the site shop, where you can purchase the essential, some treats and a wide range of fishing accessories and bait. There are two fishing tackle store rooms on site, as well as two coin operated “launderette’s” and a small local information centre. The Main Clubhouse bar is modern, comfortable and clean and suitable for all ages, being entirely on a flat ground level surface.

Disabled access is therefore dead easy for those with walking aids or wheelchairs, and two of the cottages have been specially converted to provide high quality disabled accommodation with easy access and egress, inside and outside.

Kingslakes is absolutely perfect for dog lovers, as there are dozens of dog walking circuits to choose from, and several of the cottages are dog friendly, so dogs are very welcome in these specific accommodation’s for a small cleaning charge per dog, per week, as Kingslakes appreciates other guests will prefer (and many must have) a completely 100% pet free environment to stay in, as it strives to offer something for everyone.

For those wishing to pamper themselves, the new super luxury lodges all come with their own private outdoor heated hot tubs. On the site are nature trails, woodland walks, lakeside strolls and a huge variety of flora and fauna. There is nearby parking for all cottages and all the detached lakeside lodges, each offering a real sense of privacy and that getting away from it all feeling.

The local Indian Takeaway delivers, as does Tesco and Waitrose, so you don’t even have to bring your own supplies or go food and drink shopping if you don’t want to. There is a local newsagent next to hairdressers, round the corner from a fish and chips shop only 3 miles away in Halwill Junction, which is also the location of the the Junction Inn, one of the many nearby pubs, the others being the excellent Bickford Arms at Brandis Corner on the way to Holsworthy, and the rather special Torridge Inn at Black Torrington, less than 10 minutes from Kingslakes.
