Seven Great Reasons to Visit Kingslakes This Half Term

Family is at the heart of Kingslakes. Our holiday haven is full of brilliant action suited to families and will keep your children busy all day long. Our animals, clubhouse and fishing lakes are just a few of the things that makes Kingslakes the perfect destination for your half term break. We understand that keeping your lively children entertained during the half term break can be challenging. Here at Kingslakes we have plenty of fun activities on offer to keep the whole family happy and occupied while you’re staying with us.

Have fun with fishing

Kingslakes is home to seven beautiful lakes where you can fish to your heart’s content. View the details of our lakes here. If your family are a team of seasoned anglers or you are fresh to the catch, Kingslakes has multiple fishing locations all with something unique to offer. Blackbird lake and Kingfisher lake both hold carp, some weighing up to 20lbs. Along with idyllic views, Kitchen lake is where roach can be caught and is a favourite spot amongst our avid fishing fans. Visiting the lakes is a great family activity as all ages can get involved with the angling action. Fishing provides children with the ideal opportunity to connect with nature and learn new skills.

Our animals

At Kingslakes we welcome our guests to come and pay a visit to our four-legged friends. Jack our Shetland pony would love for you to come and say hello and our goats Smartie, Minstrels, Wispa and Twirl are always pleased to see new faces. Have you ever met an Alpaca? Well, we have four! Jasmine, Sidney, Prudence, and Al enjoy new guests just as much as they enjoy their carrots and apples. Our animals are playful and social and look forward to meeting you very soon.

Games and play

We know that children have a ton of energy, so we’ve made sure they have plenty of space to expend it. There is a large area of open space where kids are free to run and play. New equipment is also available to use including a slide, seesaw, and playhouse, ideal for younger children who can’t keep up with their big brothers and sisters yet. In addition to ample space and play apparatus, we have a giant outdoor chess board which provides the opportunity for hours of strategic play and entertainment. Physical movement combined with brain engaging activity is the perfect mix to keep your children stimulated and ready for a good night’s sleep at the end of the day.

The clubhouse

Everyone needs some comfort and relaxation during the half term break. You are welcome to join us in our clubhouse where we socialise, offer entrainment and serve food. Our menu consists of starters and traditional main courses. We also have a kids menu so everyone can be happy at dinner time. After dinner why not head to the bar for refreshments and activities. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are served at our bar and we also have a dart board and pool table so there is plenty to do whilst unwinding from a day of fishing. A break from technology is nice, but we understand that sometimes our guests want to get back to their devices. We have plenty of comfortable seating and free Wi-Fi available so you can log on and post that amazing photo from your fishing trip.

Home from home

Kingslakes want to provide you with your home comforts and make your accommodation feel like home. We offer a variety of accommodation from cottages to lodges. Our lodges can sleep up to five people and all bed linen, electricity, and heating is provided. The lodges have open plan living and dining spaces and include balconies with beautiful views. There are ten cottages to choose from at Kingslakes. Just like your family, our cottages are full of life and character. Each cottage comes with a kitchen fully equipped with household items such as an oven, hob, microwave, fridge, and kettle. Once again, all bed linen is provided and essentials such as hairdryer and DVD players are also available. We hope your stay is comfortable and if you require anything else just let us know and we will do our best to help you out. And for all those campers out there, we also have a quiet and sheltered camping site with plenty of space that is safe for children to run around and explore freely.

Explore and make memories

Around the area, there is plenty to do when out and about. The surroundings of Kingslakes offers fun days out and great experiences which are perfect for making new memories with your family this half term break. The Tarka trail is nearby and is brilliant for walking and cycling enthusiasts. Spending time with family whilst walking the trail and soaking up the beautiful Devon views will really make your holiday special. If walking isn’t your thing then we also have beaches, gardens, and zoos nearby. Dartmoor Zoological Park is only 15 minutes from Plymouth and has many animals to see. You can also visit Paignton Zoo which is home to the UK’s largest aquarium!

Try something new

At Kingslakes we welcome our guests to take part in all activities on offer and explore as much as they wish. Kingslakes is great for family and young children and provides an opportunity to try something new. Perhaps you and your family usually brave the airport and travel abroad during the school break. Well, this time you can expel the stress, forget the passports and enjoy a beautiful, idyllic and unique holiday at home in the U.K.

Whether you are a new visitor or have been enjoying our holiday haven for years, Kingslakes welcomes you with open arms. From our family to yours, we look forward to seeing you all next half term.
