Welcome To Kingslakes

Once you’ve booked your Devon holiday with us, we will send you our Welcome Pack. A copy is usually kept in each cottage and lodge but under the current circumstances we feel it is safer to email you a copy ahead of your stay. We know not everyone wants to use digital versions of paperwork so just ask if you would still like a printed copy.

This blog includes a brief overview of what is included in the pack, and a link to the full version is included at the end. And of course, if there is anything you wanted to know that is not included, please just ask, we are here to make your stay as perfect as possible.

Many of our guests are keen to get in as much fishing as possible, and the fishing rules and advice for the use of the lakes are featured within the welcome pack. If you are wondering which lake is okay for you to use a pole, what size landing net you must use and whether you need a landing mat, this is where you will find all the answers. From page five of the pack.

If you have booked to bring your dog along with you we have a dog policy in place, it asks for dogs to be well controlled and that they do not go on the furniture within the cottages or lodges. See page 4 for the full rules.

The section relating to accommodation, starting on page 7, confirms the current check out time as 9.30am and it’s really appreciated if you strip the bedding (not the pillow and mattress protectors, we’ll do that when we clean) and leave it in the bathroom with your towels. The nearest recycling points are listed for your rubbish and please put all used crockery back and turn the fridge dial to zero with the door open. There is also some very useful information on the operation of the oven and heating within your accommodation. We’ve tried to include everything we could think of to make your stay with us happy and safe, including reminders to keep the windows shut whilst out, you won’t want the squirrels or birds investigating whilst you are away for the day.

There are pointers for where to park whilst you are at Kingslakes, instructions for the laundry facilities plus an invitation to use the landline phone in the farmhouse if you have an emergency and your mobile network let’s you down (as we are in a get-away-from-it-all location).

Many of us love to delve into a Welcome Information Pack for the benefit of the local knowledge of great places to visit and fabulous days out. During your stay with us you may want to make the most of the walks and cycleways we enjoy locally or visit the Heritage Railway in Okehampton. You might want to enjoy coastal views at the gorgeous beaches we have within easy driving distance, such as Bude and Westward Ho. Or if gardens are more your thing, we are close to RHS Garden Rosemoor and The Eden Project and The Lost Gardens of Heligan are 90 minutes away.

We also include good places to shop and alternative places to eat if you want a change from the on-site restaurant at Kingslakes.

As you would expect we also include emergency telephone numbers, which we very much hope you will not need during your stay, but if a dental emergency or car failure unexpectedly arises you will know who to call.

The team at Kingslakes are here to make your stay the best possible break you could wish for. So, if there is anything else you need to know please just get in touch and we’ll do everything we can to help.
